| The land of Nd was forest just 80 years ago.
Intensive farming and grazing quickly depleted the soil after the
forest was cleared, leaving little topsoil.
In the 15 years since Nd purchased the land and intensive farming and
grazing were stopped, the forest has re-grown naturally over most of the land.
Where fields are placed, a combination of crop rotation, rich manure,
and drip irrigation has reenergized the land without the use of pesticides or
chemicals. Here, the team
prepares a newly-planted field for irrigation.
